The purpose of this grant is to provide salary and research support to advance in-depth mentoring to facilitate development of a research career in nurse anesthesiology. The fellowship will position the awardee to submit for external research funding in the future.
AANA Foundation has identified a broad range of research priorities. In addition to an interest in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Foundation has an interest in research addressing healthcare policy, the science of anesthesia, education, and clinical practice, which can be found here.

Eligible investigators include Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists (CRNAs) that have completed a PhD program in any discipline within the past 5 years. The applicant investigator must be an AANA Member. Eligible organizations include institutions of higher education; nonprofit organizations; for-profit organizations; and nonprofit/for-profit/government-owned health systems.
Up to $75,000 for one year, renewable for a second year if funds are available.
Allowable costs include primarily salary support, but could also include consultancy, equipment, supplies, travel, and other miscellaneous direct costs. Indirect costs are capped at 15%.

When applications are open for submission (typically 60 days before application due dates) and you are ready to apply, you can access the application module on our electronic grants management Application Site. We will review the information on your request form and process your request to set up a profile in the grants management system. Once the review process is complete, you will receive an email providing a web link with login credentials for the grants management system. Please check your inbox (and spam box) for this email which will include next steps about how to begin your application – it should appear within three business days. Upon email receipt, please log in to the system and set your password using the link provided. It is important that this password is set within 48 hours to avoid expiration of the link.
